When we launched our own tube late 2008, we weren’t sure if it would get picked up by our users. Battle of the porn browsers

The year 2009 is marked by two happy things for internet users all over the planet: the rise of Google’s very own browser Chrome, and the decline of one of the most incompetent pieces of software ever: Internet Explorer 6.

In January, Internet Explorer 6 accounted for almost 40,000 visits per day. Over the course of 2009, we happily watched it plummet down to “just” 17,000 daily visits. We take this as a sign that IE6 users start to realize an almost ten year old browser just doesn’t offer the security and performance of today’s browsers.

Google’s Chrome browser hit the scene in December 2008, and has shown a steady rise in usage all over the world. Perhaps helped by the fact that Chrome is fast, secure and has a great privacy mode (allowing you to complete erase any trace of porn surfing), we started seeing Chrome appearing in our logs right after its release. The year started with just a few hundred Chrome users visiting AskJolene every day, and showed a consistent rise to roughly 7,000 visits a day.

And while we’re on the subject, us geeks just have to give kudos to the hardcore few who still use Internet Explorer 4, blessing us with a total of 12 visits this year!
